Sometimes less is more. The Samsung C3300K Champ lets you start small, hoping that sooner or later you will want more. It’s a deal that suits Samsung fine. This here Champ is a touch phone with social networking support, stereo speakers, cordless FM radio and a memory card, camera and Internet. And the sticker price is as low as it gets.

So, why isn’t everyone running around with a Champ in their pocket? Well first off, the Champ does have all those features but they’re not top of the line – the camera is a lowly 1.3MP, there’s no 3G and there’s several other glaring omissions.

It may not be the ideal phone for you but if you’re looking for a phone for your kid, the Samsung C3300K Champ just might be it. The young lad or lass better learn their ABCs before they start pestering you for a new toy. And they can have fast Internet, a beefier camera and Wi-Fi when they buy their own phone.

The Champ still has plenty to get them excited about – an almost complete touchscreen experience thanks to TouchWiz Lite, social networking, FM Radio that plays without the headphones plugged in. Better yet, it plays on the stereo speakers. There’s a microSD slot as well to hold an extensive music collection.

Bookmark your favourite web pages

1. In Menu mode, select Internet → Bookmarks.

2. Select Add.

3. Enter a web address (URL) and a page title.

4. Select Save.

Connect to Google Search

Connect to Google Search

1. In Menu mode, select Google → Search.

2. Enter a keyword in the search field.

Connect to Google Maps

To search the map,

1. In Menu mode, select Google → Maps.

2. Scroll through the map.

3. Zoom in or out on the location you want.

To search for a specific location,

1. In Menu mode, select Google → Maps.

2. Select Menu → Search Map and enter the

address or the category of the business.

To get directions to a specific destination,

1. In Menu mode, select Google → Maps.

2. Select Menu → Get Directions.

3. Enter the addresses of the starting location and

the ending location.

4. Select Show directions to view on the map.

Hold a call or retrieve a held call

Select Hold to place a call on hold or select

Retrieve to retrieve a held call.

Dial a second call

If your network supports this function, you can dial

another number during a call:

1. Select Hold to place the first call on hold.

2. Enter the second number to dial and press

[ ].

3. Select Swap to switch between the two calls.

4. To end the call on hold, select On hold and

press [ ].

5. To end the current call, press [ ].

Answer a second call

If your network supports this function, you can

answer a second incoming call:

1. Press [ ] to answer the second call.

The first call is automatically placed on hold.

2. Select Swap to switch between the calls.

Make a multiparty call (conference call)

1. Call the first party you want to add to the

multiparty call.

2. While connected to the first party, call the

second party.

The first party is automatically placed on hold.

3. When connected to the second party, select

Join.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add more parties (if

necessary).

5. To end the multiparty call, press [ ].

Call an international number

1. In Idle mode, select Keypad and touch and hold

0 to insert the + character.

2. Enter the complete number you want to dial

(country code, area code, and phone number),

and then press [ ] to dial.

Call a contact from the phonebook

You can call numbers directly from the phonebook

using stored contacts. �� p. 30

1. In Menu mode, select Phonebook.

2. Select the contact you want.

3. Select next to the number you want to dial →

.

Reject a call

To reject an incoming call, press [ ]. The caller will

hear a busy tone.

To reject calls from certain numbers automatically,

use the auto rejection. To activate the auto rejection

and set up the reject list,

1. In Menu mode, select Settings → Application

settings → Call → All calls → Auto reject.

2. Select On under Activation.

3. Select Add number under Reject list.

4. Select the number input field.

5. Enter a number to reject and select Done →

Save.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 to add more numbers.

7. Select the check boxes next to the number.

8. Select Save.

Customizing CV

Updating the Favorites List

The list of media providers which display in the Favorites section

of the CV homepage can be edited and changed by the user.

1. From the Home screen, select Start ➔ CV and press the

key.

2. Move the Navigation key Up or Down to highlight the Edit

button from the upper-right of the homepage (adjacent to

the My Favorites title) and press the key.

3. Scroll to Customize CV and press the key.

4. Highlight Edit My Favorites and press the key.

5. Navigate to the Add to Favorites section of the page and

highlight one the additional streaming media channels

which are not currently in your Favorites list (ex: Cartoon

Network).

6. Press the Menu soft key. Highlight Add to Favorites and

press the key.

Adding a Video Alert

When new media is available for download to your phone (such

as breaking news), you can set your phone to notify you of the

new available content.

1. From the Home screen, select Start ➔ CV and press the

key.

2. Scroll to Customize CV and press the key.

3. From the Customize CV - Options listing, highlight My Video

Alerts and press the key.

4. Navigate to the Add to My Alerts section of the page and

highlight one the available services (ex: Breaking News).

5. Press the Menu soft key. Highlight Add to Favorites and

press the key.

6. Enter a Name for the Alert in the Name field and press the

Add soft key.

My Purchases

The CV homepage can be used to shop for streaming multimedia

content. The My Purchases section can help keep track of your

purchase history and view any new resale products.

1. From the Home screen, select Start ➔ CV and press the

key.

2. Scroll to Customize CV and press the key.

3. From the Customize CV - Options listing, highlight My

Purchases and press the key.

4. Highlight Purchase History and press the key. This

provides you with an on screen listing of your “to date”

purchase history for media content.

5. Highlight Current Purchases and press the key. This

provides you with an on screen listing of your “current”

purchase history for media content.

6. Highlight My Account and press the Select soft key or the

key. This provides you with an on screen description

of your account details.

Parental Controls

Your phone can be configured to block both purchased and

streamed media content. Before filtering, you must first establish

a pin/password and a contact e-mail address. Once this

information is established, you can view the two available filter

options: Content Filter and Purchase Blocker.

• Content Filtering let you restrict access to inappropriate content both

on and outside of MEdia Net.

• Purchase Blocking lets you restrict the ability to buy ringtones,

downloads, games, etc., from this phone.

Setting up Parental Control

1. From the Home screen, select Start ➔ CV and press the

key.

2. Scroll to Customize CV and press the key.

3. From the Customize CV - Options listing, highlight Parental

Controls and press the key.

4. Highlight the OK button and press the key to access

the MEdia Net parental setup fields.

5. From the Parental Control Setup screen, use your keypad to

enter information into the following fields: PIN Code, Reenter

PIN code, contact email address.

6. Move the Navigation key to highlight the Save button and

press the key. Allow a few minutes for your

information to be received and accepted by MEdia Net. You

can then use this information to activate the parental

filters.
